Ruth L. Gaither, 77, of 430 Sheridan died Wednesday, July 10, 1991 at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Aug. 1, 1913 at Egypt Mills, Mo., the daughter of John W. and Cora Hobbs Lindsay.
She worked in the sales department at the 234 Shop in Cape Girardeau and also was the assistant dietitian at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Alton, Ill.
On June 11, 1931, she married Lloyd T. Gaither in Jonesboro, Ill. He survives.
She was a member of the Hanover Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid at the church and the Dramatic Club. She was also active in the FISH organization.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Jack, Jerry, and David Gaither, all of Cape Girardeau, Tom Gaither, Harper, Texas; one brother, Rufus Lindsay, Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hanover Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Sippy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel today from 4-8 p.m.
