ORAN -- Ruth Howell, 87, of Oran, died Tuesday, July 21, 1992, at Chaffee Nursing Center. She was born Aug. 20, 1904, in Ullin, Ill., daughter of Thomas and Minnie Emerson Handley. ORAN -- Ruth Howell, 87, of Oran, died Tuesday, July 21, 1992, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 20, 1904, in Ullin, Ill., daughter of Thomas and Minnie Emerson Handley. She married Ulmont Howell Aug. 13, 1924. He died Aug. 19, 1962.

Howell was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Uptain and Barbara Tyler of Oran; a sister, Juanita Ohlsted of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery.
