SCOTT CITY -- Ruth Elanor Etherton, 88, of Scott City, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1991, at LaCroix Nursing Center. She was born Feb. 20, 1903, at Danby, daughter of David and Carrie O'Dell McClanahan. She married William Grover Etherton Aug. 7, 1920, at Charleston. He died March 9, 1974...

SCOTT CITY -- Ruth Elanor Etherton, 88, of Scott City, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1991, at LaCroix Nursing Center.

She was born Feb. 20, 1903, at Danby, daughter of David and Carrie O'Dell McClanahan. She married William Grover Etherton Aug. 7, 1920, at Charleston. He died March 9, 1974.

Etherton was a member of Illmo United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a nephew she raised, Herschel Gilpin of Commerce; three great-nephews and nieces, and four great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, sister, and a niece she raised.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. William Dickey will officiate, with burial in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. today.
