RUTH C. COLSON

EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Ruth Clementine Colson, East Prairie Route 2, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Mike Johnson will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Colson, 93, died Monday, May 22, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Sept. 23, 1901, in Murray, Ky., daughter of Tom and Virginia Cook Wilkinson. She and John Rufus "J.R." Colson were married Sept. 24, 1921, in Paris, Tenn.

Colson had lived in Mississippi County since 1932.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, William Colson of Barlow, Ky., Joe Colson of Carmi, Ill., Pat and Larry Colson of East Prairie; a daughter, Sudie Whybark of Fairdealing, Ky.; two brothers, Woodrow Wilkinson of Florida, T.J. Wilkinson of Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Vermel Wicker of Murray; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
