RUSSELL MCCOMMONS

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Funeral for Russell McCommons of Dongola will be held at 11 a.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. The Rev. Paul Sadler and Everett Frizzell will officiate. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery.

McCommons, 89, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at Jonesboro Health Care.

He was born Aug. 10, 1909, at Millcreek, son of Henry Scott and Ida Ellen Powless McCommons. He and Helen Hinkle were married May 29, 1928.

McCommons was retired from the highway department. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 581 AF&AM.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Pat Beggs and Jodene Porterfield, both of Dongola; three grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a great-grandson, three brothers and a sister.
