PUXICO, Mo. -- Russell Wayne Fish, 85, of Puxico passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 20, 1936, in Wayne County, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Kathleen Fish. Russell and Barbara James were united in marriage on July 5, 1959, at Kinder Chapel in Kinder, Missouri.
In his early years Russell had been a farmer. Beginning in 1985 he started his 25-year career as a scale inspector for the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Russell attended Brush Creek Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Russell was an avid fisherman, spending lots of time on his pontoon boat fishing for crappie. He enjoyed watching PBR fishing on television.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Fish of the home; four sisters, Phyllis Placher of Puxico; Marcella Townsend of Zalma, Missouri; Anna VanGennip of Advance, Missouri; and Marjorie (Delain) Robison of Puxico; a sister-in-law, Connie James of St. Louis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
A funeral service will be at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The Fish family kindly requests masks be worn during all services at the funeral home.
