Russell Bankston, 76, of Ocklawaha, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. He was born Feb. 8, 1924, at Lilbourn, Mo., son of Ruben and Lillian Rose Bankston. He married the former Norma Steward. Bankston retired as a leather cutter at Florsheim Shoe Co. Russell Bankston, 76, of Ocklawaha, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.

He was born Feb. 8, 1924, at Lilbourn, Mo., son of Ruben and Lillian Rose Bankston. He married the former Norma Steward.

Bankston retired as a leather cutter at Florsheim Shoe Co. He moved to Ocklawaha in 1998 from Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Thomas Hale of Jackson, Mo., Michael Hale of Cape Girardeau; three stepdaughters, Dorrliss Ware of Ocklawaha, Patricia Glueck of San Antonio, Texas, Rose Martin of Pacific Grove, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Florida Cremation Society in Ocala was in charge of arrangements.
