PERRYVILLE -- Rupert A. Klaus, 77, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at National Health Care Center.

He was born in Perry County, son of August H. and Mathilda Mahken Klaus.

Klaus was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and received master and doctoral degrees from Peabody College.

He was a retired assistant superintendent of Murfreesboro City Schools and retired school psychologist.

Klaus was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, life member of NEA, and member of American Psychologist Association.

He was a past president of Murfreesboro Kiwanis Club, former member of Tennessee Board of Examiners in Psychology, was active in Boy Scouting and received numerous awards.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Elizabeth Davis of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, James Klaus of Murfreesboro; a brother, Irvin Klaus of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Elvira Roth and Marie Theiss of Perry County; and four grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Church, with Pastor David Brabender officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Cemetery.

Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Murfreesboro is in charge of arrangements.
