Funeral service for Rudy H. Gerecke of Bakersfield, Calif., was held March 16 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Bakersfield. The Rev. James Voytko officiated, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mish Funeral Home in Bakersfield was in charge of arrangements.
Gerecke, 68, died Friday, March 12, 1993, in a Bakersfield hospital.
He was born April 23, 1924, in Cape Girardeau, son of Louis and Frieda Ahrens Gerecke. He and Ella Marie Nitsch were married in 1948.
The Gereckes had lived in California since 1948. He was employed in the oilfields with Gerhardt and Co., as a cased hole service manager. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dan Gerecke of Barrow, Alaska; four daughters, Donella Huddleston of Palmer, Alaska, Denise Echert, Diana Kelley and Donna Dailey of Bakersfield; two brothers, Ray Gerecke of Fruitland, Charles Gerecke of Jackson; three sisters, Helen Lloyd of Cape Girardeau, Dorothy Hansen of St. Louis, Betty Renne of Gordonville, and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
