Rudolph Brothers, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Schweikert Brothers. He and Wilmetta Sitzes were married Dec. 20, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She died Oct. 23, 1983...

Rudolph Brothers, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Schweikert Brothers. He and Wilmetta Sitzes were married Dec. 20, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She died Oct. 23, 1983.

Rudolph was an adjuster with Cape Mutual Insurance 30 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post 3838, and former member of the Elks Lodge.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Jan. 13, 1943, to Oct. 10, 1945. He served in the European Theater and participated in D-Day. He also worked with the Secret Service during the war.

Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Jane Coleman of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Robert Brothers of Jackson, Mo., Melvin Brothers of Cape Girardeau, Thomas Brothers of state of Florida; five sisters, Dorothy Renburg of Joplin, Mo., LaWanda Brothers of Springfield, Mo., Betty Kester of Carthage, Mo., Loretta Briggs and Barbara Miller of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Jilana L. Coleman and Krista L. Coleman of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Douglas C. Breite will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park with military rites by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Military Funeral Honors.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice.
