BERNIE -- Rudolph Adkins, 73, of Bernie died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.
He was born June 6, 1925, at Bernie, son of Ezra Gather and Carrie May Anthony Adkins. He and Wanda Robinett were married Jan. 10, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.
Adkins was a lifelong resident of Bernie and a retired farmer. He was a member of White Oak Grove General Baptist Church and served as deacon and treasurer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald Adkins of Seattle, Wash., Randal Adkins of Miami Shores, Fla., Kenneth Adkins of Bernie; a daughter, Sherry Gregory of Bernie; three brothers, Rayburn Adkins of Wayne, Mich., Ruben "Bud" and Larry Adkins of Dexter; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Pennington officiating. Burial will be in Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
