Rudell Mulkey Childers, 89, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Mounds, Ill., died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 19, 1913, daughter of Ida Holshouser and H.S. Mulkey. She married Woody Childers on Aug. 19, 1952. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1979.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mounds. She was a past member of Eastern Star, White Shrine, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She owned beauty salons in Cypress, Ill., and Mounds before retiring and moving to Cape Girardeau in 1977.
She is survived by a brother, Herb Mulkey of Cape Girardeau; two nieces and a nephew.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, Ill. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Herring officiating. Burial will be at the Cypress Masonic Cemetery.
