JACKSON, Mo. -- Ruby M. Reitman, age 85, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at her home in Jackson. Friends may call Monday, Oct. 30, between 4 and 8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. Kelly and Kenny Francis will officiate...

JACKSON, Mo. -- Ruby M. Reitman, age 85, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at her home in Jackson. Friends may call Monday, Oct. 30, between 4 and 8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. Kelly and Kenny Francis will officiate.

Mrs. Reitman was born Dec. 15, 1914, in Grassy, Mo., daughter of the late W.L. and Emma E. Patterson Francis. She and John W. Reitman were married Aug. 31, 1940, in Jackson, Mo. He passed away Aug. 12, 1998.

Loving survivors include a son-in-law, Joe Reddick of Jackson; three brothers, Glen Francis of Grassy, Mo., Gene Francis of Marble Hill, Mo., and Ralph Francis of Jasper, Ga.; one sister, Ruth Miller of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Reitman was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Reddick, Aug. 3, 2000; three brothers, and two sisters.

In 1961, John and Ruby moved to Jackson from their farm near Burfordville. Ruby graduated from SEMO in 1960. She was an elementary teacher in rural Bollinger County for 12 years. She spent 10 years teaching the first grade at Woodland Elementary and retired in 1980 from Jackson R-2, where she had taught for 23 years.

Ruby was baptized at the Antioch Church of Christ in Grassy, but for the past several years she was a member of the Scopus Church of Christ. Ruby was a vacation Bible school leader for many years. She was a member of the Jackson R-2 Retired Teachers' Association. She enjoyed cooking for her family, but for the past 20 years she suffered from Parkinson's disease.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the American Cancer Society or Scopus Church of Christ.
