MAKANDA, Ill. -- Ruby Mae Cobb, 88, of Moweaqua, formerly of Makanda, died Friday, June 3, 1994, at Moweaqua Nursing Home and Retirement Center.
She was born March 17, 1906, in Pomona, daughter of George and Dora King Forby. She and William B. "Shorty" Cobb were married April 6, 1926, in Murphysboro. He died Nov. 12, 1952.
Cobb was a member of Makanda Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Evelyn Lott of Makanda, Ellen Thomas of Eureka, Mae Nance, Edith Pearson and Pauline Pirtle of Cobden, Barbara Cross of Peotone; six sisters, Ethel Messamore of Sparta, Clara Murray of Scott, Mich., Nadine Bridgeman of Anna, Kathryn Crider of Tamms, Naomi Simmons of New Burnside, Ruth Russell of Jonesboro; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, grandchild and great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 6 p.m. today, and at Makanda Baptist Church after 1 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
