FROHNA, Mo. � Ruby Violet Meyr Koenig-Steffens, 81, of Frohna died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, in St. Louis.

She was born Sept. 18, 1936, at the family home in New Wells to George J. and Mildred F. Huttegger Meyr.

She was baptized into the Christian faith Oct. 4, 1936, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. Ruby made public profession of that faith April 2, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and attended Immanuel Lutheran School in New Wells. She graduated as salutatorian from Jackson High School.

Ruby was married to Delmar E. Koenig on Oct. 9, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. Delmar and Ruby were members of Salem Lutheran Church at Farrar, Missouri, where they raised their children, before retiring to New Wells. Delmar preceded her in death June 26, 2013.

Ruby and Delmar were blessed with two sons and a daughter who survive her, Bruce C. Koenig of New Wells, Brian (Dianna, nee Mecker) Koenig of Perryville, Missouri, and Brenda (Bill) Koenig-Renz of Arvada, Colorado. She also is survived by five grandchildren, Tyson Koenig of Cape Girardeau, Jarod (Jennifer, nee Johns) Koenig of St. Louis, Ryan Koenig of Perryville and Jasmyne and Shayla Renz of Arvada; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebekah Koenig. Other survivors include a sister, Delores Wallmann of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Dean (Delores) Meyr of Friedheim; and nieces and nephews.

On Nov. 28, 2015, she married Larry W. Steffens, who survives in Frohna.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Keith A. Koenig; and a sister, Carol Kaufmann.

God blessed Ruby�s life with many special people as she served God in her vocations at home, church, work and in the community. She worked as a sewing-machine operator at the dress factory in Perryville, as a bookkeeper and office manager for Inland Energy, and retired as an agent from Prudential Insurance. Ruby was very active in the Lutheran Women�s Missionary League (LWML), American Legion Post 133 Women�s Auxiliary and the Frohna Friendship Circle. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. She then will be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells for visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Pastor Lawrence Bradt and pastoral candidate Jarod Koenig officiating. Ruby�s body will be laid to rest at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Wells, where it will await the glorious resurrection when Christ returns.

Memorials are preferred to Saxony Lutheran High School or Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
