ST. LOUIS -- Ruby Olive Hay, 71, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Delta, died Friday, Dec. 24, 18993, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 10, 1922, at Advance, daughter of Peter Philip and Murtie Sitz Hay.
She received her bachelor's degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University and her master's degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was an active member of the Florissant Valley Baptist Church and the Kappa Kappa Iota teachers' sorority.
Hay was a retired elementary school teacher. She taught in Ste. Genevieve county and in Delta, before retiring from the Hazelwood School district in 1987, after 44 years in education.
Survivors include a brother, Doyle Cates of Bloomfield, Mo.; and a sister, Ida Kichne of the state of Kansas.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Monday at the Buchholz Mortuary in Florissant.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Florissant Valley Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronald Bulleck officiating.
Burial will be in the Hitt Family Cemetery, near Delta.
