Ruby Goodman, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Thebes, Ill., daughter of Charles and Mary Simpkins Copeland. Goodman had been a food service worker at St. Francis Medical Center more than 25 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and its Girls Auxiliary, Training Union, and was a Sunday School teacher more than 20 years...

Ruby Goodman, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Thebes, Ill., daughter of Charles and Mary Simpkins Copeland.

Goodman had been a food service worker at St. Francis Medical Center more than 25 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and its Girls Auxiliary, Training Union, and was a Sunday School teacher more than 20 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Lea Reynolds of Cape Girardeau, Jane Rose of Albuquerque, N.M., Patricia Garrison of St. Louis; a brother, Jake Copeland of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Ellen Strange of Herrin, Ill.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son and six brothers.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. S.S. Borum will officiate. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure, Ill.

Friends may call at the chapel Wednesday from 10 a.m. to service time.
