RUBY E. SHANKS

MARBLE HILL -- Ruby E. Shanks, 87, of Marble Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 12, 1906, at Brownwood, Mo., the daughter of William Leadbetter and Mary Alice Teeters Leadbetter.

She lived in Bollinger County her whole life. She married Marvin Shanks on Jan. 21, 1921. He died Feb. 11, 1977.

She was a member of the Locust Grove General Baptist Church of Marble Hill.

Survivors include four sons, Roscoe Shanks, Weldon Shanks and Frank Shanks, all of Marble Hill, and L.J. Shanks of North Augusta, S.C.; four daughters, Almeta Baker and Verona Wilder of Marble Hill, and Lula B. Mazzarella and Marabeth Grant of Wood River, Ill.; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, one grandson and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. at Locust Grove General Baptist Church, with the Rev. Elijah H. Allen officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery in Marble Hill.
