DEXTER -- Ruby Dicks, 85, of Dexter, died Friday Dec. 16, 1994, at the Vintage Villa Nursing Center in Dexter. DEXTER -- Ruby Dicks, 85, of Dexter, died Friday Dec. 16, 1994, at the Vintage Villa Nursing Center in Dexter.

She was born June 26, 1909, at Republic, the daughter of Samuel Calvin and Sarah Elizabeth Manley Short.

She was a former resident of Springfield and had lived in Dexter the past several years. She was a member of the South Haven Baptist Church in Dexter.

On Feb. 20, 1932, she married Virgie L. Dicks in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1976.

Survivors include: one son, Samuel Guy Dicks of Dexter; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, with the Rev. Jess Cunningham of Springfield officiating.
