Ruby Albertine Neumeyer Deneke, 91, of Gordonville passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Ruby Albertine Neumeyer Deneke, 91, of Gordonville passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Tilsit, to Albert and Ida Thoma Neumeyer. She and Albert W. Deneke were married Nov. 21, 1944. They had been married 63 years when Albert passed away Oct. 12, 2008.

After high school, Ruby attended the former Steimle Business School in Cape Girardeau and then briefly worked at the former Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau. She was later employed several years at Gordonville Mutual Insurance Co.

Ruby was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville. She served 42 years as choir director, many years as organist, and was a member of the adult Bible class and United Methodist Women. She also volunteered at Red Cross blood drives.

Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Faye Deneke of Gordonville; a granddaughter, Heather (Shawn) Weber and children Madalyn and Dylan of Jackson; and a grandson, Derrick (Kristi) Deneke and children Cooper and Campbell of Columbia, Mo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Ruth (Orville) Deneke.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at Zion Methodist Church in Gordonville.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Joel Kidwell officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Zion Methodist Memorial Fund in support of the music ministry.
