Ruby Mae Brown, 89, of Jackson passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Arbor, Mo., to James W. and Elizabeth Coomer Slinkard. She and James Arnold "Mutt" Brown were married Feb. 2, 1941, in Chaffee, Mo. He passed away July 9, 1996...

Ruby Mae Brown, 89, of Jackson passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Arbor, Mo., to James W. and Elizabeth Coomer Slinkard. She and James Arnold "Mutt" Brown were married Feb. 2, 1941, in Chaffee, Mo. He passed away July 9, 1996.

Brown was a faithful member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church of Jackson more than 60 years.

Loving survivors include three sons, Delmer (Diane) Brown of Jefferson City, Mo., Ronnie (Marilyn) Brown and Stephen Brown (Mary McDowell), all of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Linda Brown of Jackson; a brother, Jake (Martha) Slinkard of Kansas City; six grandchildren, Tammy (Kirk) Vogler of St. Louis, Tara (Michael) Braswell of Crestview, Fla., Becky Brown of Cape Girardeau, Travis (Samantha) Brown, Rachelle (Jay) Teague and Nathan (Heather) Brown, all of Jackson; eight great-grandchildren, Mason and Brynna Vogler, Chase Braswell, Alaina and Alyssa Teague, Garrison and Kennedy Brown, Lawson Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James W. "Bud" and Mark L. "Smiley" Brown; a granddaughter, Brandy Renee Brown Clark; six brothers, Herbert, Virgil "Bus", Ernest "Cotton", Hubert, Eugene and William "Bill" Slinkard; and two sisters, Flora "Chick" Kilbreath and Betty Nesbit.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center, and from 1 p.m. to service time at Calvary United Pentecostal Church.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Thomas Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Pentecostal Church Media Systems Fund.
