RUBY ABERNATHY

BENTON -- Ruby Abernathy, 86, of Benton, died Sunday, May 10, 1992, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 23, 1905, at Oxley, daughter of James Isaac and Clara Teague Lawson. She married Ralph Abernathy Nov. 24, 1926, at Benton. He died Dec. 24, 1968.

Abernathy had been a machine operator at Ely Walker Co. in Scott City and Sports Specialty in Chaffee. She was a member of Oran Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Cook and Lora Clinton of Benton; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. The Rev. Jack Bishop will officiate, with burial in Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
