DEXTER, Mo. -- Rubin C. Thurman, 72, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Boone County Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
He was born July 2, 1928, in Malden, Mo., son of Daniel and Effie Pearl Hedger Thurman. He and Jean Avery were married June 12, 1947, at Gray Ridge, Mo.
Mr. Thurman was a former resident of St. Louis, Essex and Washington, Mo. He lived in Gravois Mills, Mo., since 1991 and was retired from TRW Piston Ring Factory in Manchester, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the VFW in Jefferson City, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Roy Clayton Thurman of Union, Mo.; six sisters, Geraldine Lawson of Cape Girardeau, Virgie Yancy and Peggy Hughes, both of Blodgett, Mo., Janice Brown of Arbyrd, Mo., Imogene Cantrell and Fern Thurman, both of Sikeston, Mo.; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at funeral home, with the Rev. H. Worth officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery near Bloomfield, Mo.
