Royal Ballard, 93, of Winter Haven, Fla., and formerly of Union County in Illinois, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Winter Haven.
He was born Jan. 5, 1907, in Cobden, Ill., the son of Walton and Dorthea Hankla Ballard. He married Elizabeth Lamer May 19, 1945, in Anna, Ill. She survives.
He was a retired special agent for the former Illinois Central Railroad and a veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Congregational Church in Winter Haven.
He also is survived by two sons, William R. "Bill" Ballard of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Timothy W. Ballard of Littleton, Colo.; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000, a the Anna Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Wilkinson officiating.
Burial will be at the Anna Cemetery.
