MARBLE HILL -- Roy William Boles, 73, of Marble Hill, died Monday, Aug. 1, 1994, at his home. He was born May 26, 1921, in Denver, Colo., son of John Huston and Eunice Irene Johnson Boles. He and Martinea Hamlyn Schaefer were married March 18, 1972...

MARBLE HILL -- Roy William Boles, 73, of Marble Hill, died Monday, Aug. 1, 1994, at his home.

He was born May 26, 1921, in Denver, Colo., son of John Huston and Eunice Irene Johnson Boles. He and Martinea Hamlyn Schaefer were married March 18, 1972.

Boles and his wife owned and operated Boles Food Mart near Marble Hill. He was a member, songleader and active in the bus ministry at New Salem Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Wesley Boles of Phoenix, Ariz., Wayne and Walter Boles of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; a daughter, Karen Kikuta of Clearwater, Fla.; his mother of Marble Hill; two stepsons, Marvin Schaefer of Santa Paula, Calif., Ronald Schaefer of Peoria, Ariz.; four stepdaughters, Linda Harris of Fulton, Caroline Floyd and Vickie Colvin of Marble Hill, Debra Collier of Sikeston; a brother, Gerald Boles of Elizabeth, Colo.; a sister, Irene Barnes of Collins; 21 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at New Salem Church, with the Revs. Delbert Bishop and Randy Poole officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. Louis.
