SIKESTON -- Roy W. Alsup, 73, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born April 5, 1920, at Tipplersville, Miss., son of William Norman and Myrtle Connor Alsup. He and Marjorie Lee were married Aug. 29, 1940, in Sikeston.

Alsup had been a building contractor and co-owned Alsup Construction Co. here. He also worked for Sikeston Special Road District many years. He was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Roy Alsup of Sikeston; three daughters, Shirley Newton of Sikeston, Elaine Hodges of Eugene, Ore., Doris Denbow of Columbia; three sisters, Elizabeth Hopper of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Lois Combs of Lomita, Calif., Grace Rainwater of Bethalto, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Dan Stoffel and Gary Denbow will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Saturday.
