SIKESTON, Mo. -- Roy A. Sale, 86, of Sikeston died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Clarkton, Missouri, to Charley and Ocie Lee Sale.
He was married to Patsy Walker on Dec. 21, 1953, at Gideon, Missouri, and they were together for 31 years. He later married Verna McConnell on Dec. 14, 1985.
Roy was a graduate of Holcomb (Missouri) High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served 20 years, retiring at the rank of master sergeant in August 1972. He had tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam as a flight engineer. After retiring from service, Roy went on to become a master mechanic for various airports and an inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration. He enjoyed traveling and fishing throughout his life, and phone conversations were always brief.
From his first marriage, Roy had three sons and two daughters.
He is survived by two sons, Roy "Ike" Sale Jr. and Walter "James" Sale; two daughters, Teresa Cook and Yvonne Sale; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; a sister; a son, David Michael Sale; and both spouses.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday with funeral service directly following at Ford and Sons Funeral Home at 1001 N. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
He will be laid to rest at the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
