JACKSON -- Roy Willis Poe, 88, of Jackson died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 22, 1910, in Inman, Kan., son of Frank Alonzo and Jennie M. Westling Poe. He first married Vera Mae Smith Nov. 14, 1936, in Winfield, Kan. She died July 12, 1974. He later married Margaret M. Fisher Haas July 5, 1975, in Jackson.

Poe was vice president of sales and marketing at Lenco Inc. from 1961 until retiring in 1976.

He authored more than 250 sales bulletins and had lectured in more than 100 cities on marketing and welding to the American Welding Society for Tweco, Lenco, and the National Welders Supply Association.

Poe was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, and had served on various committees and boards. He was a member of Legion of Honor of DeMolay, past president and Man of the Year in 1989 of Jackson Heritage Association, and past president of Men's Garden Club.

He moved to Jackson in 1961 from Wichita, Kan.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Brenda Hicks of Longview, Texas; a stepson, Bradford Haas of Van Buren, Ark.; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers, and three sisters.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Lohse officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
