Roy C. "Scoop" McMullen, 93, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Feb. 26, 1906, at Bell City, son of William and Oma Congleton McMullen. He and Emma Mildred Felty Albright were married Jan. 1, 1938, at Chaffee. She died Nov. 11, 1986.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson.
He moved to Largo, Fla., from Cape Girardeau in 1982 and then back to Cape Girardeau in 1997. He worked for Cotton Belt Railroad as a conductor for 46 years, retiring in 1972.
He was a graduate of Fornfelt High School in Fornfelt and a former member of the Scott City Masonic Lodge and then H.O. Grauel Lodge 672 in Cape Girardeau. He also was a member of the Elks in Chaffee. He was a shriner and a 32nd degree Mason in St. Louis. He was a member of the Moolah Temple in St. Louis and a member of the United Transportation Union.
Survivors are a daughter, Reba Jean Thompson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Robert McMullen of Belleville, Ill.; a sister, Katherine Cossart of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Graveside service will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Clifford C. Thompson officiating.
