BURFORDVILLE, Mo. -- Roy Clinton Locke, 78, of Burfordville died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Binger, Okla., son of Ambrose and Lillie Hunt Locke. He and Edith Wise were married Oct. 21, 1950. She survives.

Locke farmed all his life in the Southeast Missouri area. He was formerly employed by Sailor Roofing Co. in Cape Girardeau 20 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was a member of Burfordville Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1945-46.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Debbie Locke and Mike and Debra Locke, all of Burfordville; a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Jerry Lucas of Burfordville; a daughter, Mary McGowan of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Hazel McKaskle of Marble Hill, Mo., Rose Hampton of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Morris Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston, Mo.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or Glaucoma Association.
