Roy Glastetter, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1939, in New Hamburg, Mo., to Edward and Coletta Glaus Glastetter. He and Julia Marie Phelps were married April 20, 1963, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death Feb. 28, 2007.
Roy served in the National Guard.
He started his grocery career with A&P, followed by the position as director of retail services with Wetterau in Scott City. He then became a co-owner/operator of Portageville, Mo., IGA Inc., which included five IGA stores with locations in Brownsville and Martin, Tenn., and Portageville, New Madrid and Charleston, Mo. He was also part owner/operator of Dairy Queen stores in Sikeston, Mo., and Charleston. He retired from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in May 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Glastetter (Jacki) of Cape Girardeau and Steve Glastetter of Jackson; a daughter, Lisa Glastetter of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Gary Glastetter of Oran, Mo.; a sister, Marcella Kapfer of Cape Girardeau; and two grandsons, Scott Glastetter of Jackson and Joey Ashley of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Clyde Glastetter; and a sister, Alice Ressel.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
