PAINTON, Mo. -- Roy William Friedrich Sr., 89, of California, Mo., went home to be with his lord Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo.
Roy was born Nov. 11, 1919, near Painton, son of Wilheim "William" Heinrich George and Esther Daisy Kelso Friedrich.
He attended Colinger School, which was known as "Possum Ridge School." He worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad from 1941 at 1956. In 1957 he became a carpenter and electrician.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Friedrich had been a Sunday school superintendent and a deacon. He was a member of Viburnum Christian Church. He was also a member of AF&AM Masonic Lodge 489 and Order of Eastern Star, both in Bell City, Mo.
Roy and Velma Mae Miller were married Dec. 31, 1940. She preceded him in death Dec. 6, 2002.
Survivors include his youngest daughter, Phyllis Jean Friedrich Ragsdale of Jamestown, Mo.; three sisters, Florence Baiter of Rockwood, Ill., Flora Hess of Jackson, Freda Mansker of Oran; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Roy "Butch" Friedrich Jr.; a daughter, Marilyn Sue; a brother, Lawrence Friedrich; a sister-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Friday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. George Civey and Louie Moyers officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
