Roy Edward Friedrich, 80, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020, at The Lutheran Home.
He was born April 21, 1940, in Advance, Missouri, the son of Fritz and Marzena Johnson.
In Roy's earlier years, he built homes. He later worked in maintenance for the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office. He also spent time working as a sales associate at Buchheit in Jackson. He retired as a maintenance worker for the Missouri Conservation Department.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Roy was an avid hunter of deer and turkey. He enjoyed restoring tractors, carpentry and working with his hands.
Survivors include a son, Pete (Tanya) Friedrich of Perryville, Missouri; a brother, Alvin Friedrich of Perkins, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his friends and caregivers, Robert and Vera Voges of Jackson and Carla Clippard of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Darla Hess; three brothers, Freeman, Gilbert and Gene Friedrich; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Pastor Jason Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
