ROY BIRD

ANNA, Ill. -- Roy L. Bird, 80, of Simms, formerly of Anna, died Monday, June 10, 1996, at Jeffersonian Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.

He was born May 8, 1916, in Union County, son of Ira E. and Myrtle Hoyle Bird. He and Lula J. Meyers were married Dec. 5, 1944.

Bird was a member of Ellis Mound Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patsy Saylor of Richmond, Ind., Peggy McRaven of Jonesboro; a son, Raymond Bird of Fairfield; two brothers, Loyd Bird of Anna, Carl Bird of Elgin; a sister, Genevie Davis of Carterville; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Friends may call at York Funeral Home in Wayne City from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at York Chapel, with the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McGinnis Cemetery in Anna.
