Roxie Penrod

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Roxie E. Penrod, 89, of Dongola, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.

Born Sept. 29, 1912, in Dongola, she was the daughter of John and Eva Keller Lingle.

On Dec. 24, 1947, she was married to Ernest Penrod. He died June 9, 1996.

Penrod was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Dongola Home Extension.

Survivors include, a son, Paul Penrod of Dongola; a stepdaughter, Rita Barnhart of Madison, Ill.; a brother, Rufus Lingle of Dongola; a sister, Velma McKinnon of Murphysboro, Ill.; two step-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Penrod was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Myron Dillow officiating. Burial will be held in the Friendship Cemetery.
