CHARLESTON -- Rosie Sledge, 80, of Charleston, died Saturday, March 23, 1996, at Bertrand Nursing Facility.
She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Tupelo, Miss., daughter of Ozell and Mary Eckford. She married Jimmie Sledge, who died in 1967.
Sledge was a member of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Easton and Gloria Henderson of Charleston; two sisters, Alvester McFarland of Hickman, Ky., Laura King of Portageville; a brother, Ozell Eckford Jr. of state of Mississippi; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mercy Seat Church, with the Rev. J.L. Posey officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. to service time.
Sparks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
