Rosalia "Rose" Talley, 97, formerly of Chaffee, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, in Rolla, Mo.
She was born on the family farm near New Hamburg, Mo., on Feb. 1, 1913, to the late Edward and Nora C. Dannenmueller Eichhorn. She married Ardell B. Himmselspoch of Chaffee. To this union one son was born. Ardell preceded her in death June 13, 1944. She later married Carl F. Talley of Chaffee. He preceded her in death April 5, 1982.
At the age of 16 she moved to Chaffee and lived in the home of Dr. and Mrs. W.A. Walling, now known as the Victorian House, where she was employed as their housekeeper and cook. She resided in Chaffee until August 2000 when macular degeneration forced her to move to Parkside Assisted Living Facility in Rolla. She later moved to the Rolla Manor Care Nursing Center, where she remained until her death.
She was employed by the Chaffee Manufacturing Co. (Buckstein's Pants Factory) for 29 years. She was a member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, the daughters of Saint Ambrose and the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary. She loved to read, work in her flower garden and make daily trips to Mable's Cafe to have coffee and visit with friends.
She is survived by her son, Larry G. Himmelspoch of Rolla; a brother, Ervin Eichhorn and wife Rita of Kelso, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Eichhorn of Chaffee and Cornetta (Himmelspoch) Warren of Eureka, Mont.; two stepdaughters, Carol (Talley) Bueltemann of Memphis, Tenn., Diane (Talley) Hawn of Cape Girardeau; five step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Eichhorn and Coena Uhrhan; five brothers, Leo, Elmer, Marvin, Clyde and Cyril; brothers-in-law Paul Uhrhan, William Talley and wife Charlene, Melvin "Bud" Talley and Harold Warren; and sisters-in-law Margaret, Helen, Josephine, Lois, Evelyn (Himmelspoch) Maloney and husband Woodrow.
Visitation for the family will be from 3 to 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Visitation for friends will begin at 4 p.m. today.
A rosary ceremony will be said the at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.
Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or school in Chaffee.
