Ronald Neil Wikel of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020.

Ron was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to Helen and Neil Wikel.

He graduated from Parsons College with a business degree in 1963.

In 1964, he married Jo Wilson, after meeting on a blind date. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last fall.

They had three children, Mark Wikel of Cape Girardeau and his wife, Tracey, and their two children, Kristen of San Diego and Katy of Cape Girardeau; David Wikel of Jackson and his wife, Donna, and their children, Lauren, Alex and Megan, all of Jackson; and Jill Kirk of Arlington, Tennessee, and her husband, Marty, and their children, Abigail and Garrett, both of Arlington.

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Ron worked for Brown's Shoe Fit Co. for 36 years. His job moved him all around for several years from Iowa to Nebraska to Missouri. Ron and Jo moved to Cape Girardeau in 1978, where he was owner/manager of Brown's Shoe Fit Co. until he retired in 2005.

He is survived by his wife; three children; seven grandchildren; and sister, Susan Coppernoll of College Station, Texas.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Wikel.

A private family service will be held at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
