SIKESTON, Mo. -- Ronald Lee "Ron" Wallace, 82, passed away at 9:58 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 8, 1935, in Sikeston to the late Ernest and Alma Kirkpatrick Wallace.
He was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He graduated from Sikeston High School in 1953, and served two years in the U.S. Army as a medic. During his career, he sold Metropolitan Life, was a mail-route contractor and retired from Pepsi Mid-America as a retail auditor in September 2014.
On Nov. 29, 1957, at First Baptist Church in Parma, Missouri, he married Barbara Jean Gilmer, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher "Chris" and Jennifer Wallace of Cape Girardeau; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest "Ernie" and Carmen Wallace of LaPlata, Maryland; one sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Heuiser of Sikeston; and grandchildren, Katelyn Nicole Burton and Ben Burton of Jackson, Maci Caroline Wallace of Hamilton, Alabama, and Lydia Denise Wallace of Cape Girardeau.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lawanna Jean Noyes and Gloria June Clark.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenny Bollinger, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military honors.
