Ronald Lee Obermann Sr., 58, of Jackson died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born July 25, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of Arthur Lee and Betty Ann Fuhrmann Obermann. He and Janice L. Welter were married March 20, 1971...

Ronald Lee Obermann Sr., 58, of Jackson died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born July 25, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of Arthur Lee and Betty Ann Fuhrmann Obermann. He and Janice L. Welter were married March 20, 1971.

Mr. Obermann was owner and operator of Obermann and Sons Plumbing and Heating 28 years. He was a 1967 graduate of Jackson High School.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158, Order of Arrow Anpetu-We Lodge 100, and was a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 311.

Mr. Obermann was a medic with the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. He was awarded three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife; his parents of Jackson; a son, Ronald L. (Karen) Obermann Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Nicole L. Singh of Jackson; a sister, Dory Obermann of O'Fallon, Mo.; his father and mother-in-law, Jerome and Evelyn Welter of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Isabella Khatra Singh of Jackson; and three stepgrandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica and Joshua Voshage of Jackson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to service time at First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Revs. Bob Price and Carter Frey officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
