PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ronald J. Cissell, 69, of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Perry County, son of Glennon and Della Klump Cissell. He married Helen A. Clifton on Sept. 26, 1964, in Perryville.
As a young man, Ronnie played football and baseball back in the day when "men were men and women were glad of it."
He served six years in the U.S. Air Force. He returned home and married the love of his life, Helen Clifton, and raised a family. He worked 19 years and retired from Sabreliner Corp.
Cissell enjoyed his home life, family and grandkids. He never lost hope in the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Cissell of Perryville; a daughter, Natalia (Stacey) Beasley of Tamms, Ill.; a son, Tony (Kathy) Cissell of Perryville; two sisters, Shirley Leible of Perryville, Judy Cissell of Warrenton, Mo.; a brother, Kenneth Cissell of Walsh, Ill.; six grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home. The parish wake will be at 7. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Joe Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133 and the Delta Team.
