MCCLURE, Ill. -- Funeral service for Rollie "Joe" Matlock of McClure will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Rev. Raymond Oxford will officiate, with burial in Lindsey Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today, and on Friday from 8 a.m. to service time.
Matlock, 85, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1993, at Daystar Nursing Home in Cairo.
He was born Jan. 2, 1908, at McClure, son of James and Adaline Phillips Matlock. He and Gladys Kaufman were married May 13, 1927.
Matlock was a heavy equipment operator 30 years with International Union of Operating Engineers Local 318 in Harrisburg, retiring in 1971. He also farmed.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Alice Kerr of Bastrow, Texas; two sons, Rollie and William Matlock of McClure; a twin sister, Ollie Gregory of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Everett Matlock of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and a sister.
