ROLAND W. SMITH

SIKESTON -- Roland W. Smith, 73, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1992, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born Nov. 11, 1918, in Batesville, Miss., son of William Frank and Blanche Ester Hawkins Smith. He and Motell Beck were married May 13, 1940.

Smith was a retired farmer and car salesman. He was a member of First Baptist Church here.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William B. Smith of Sikeston, Roland Clifford Smith of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Sarah Goff of Kennett; a sister, Sarah Kell of Burlison, Texas; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Guffie will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
