J. Roger Mackey, 79, of Jackson died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at his home.
He was born Dec. 2, 1926, at Salem, Mo., son of John Byrd and Nora Ann Cooksey Mackey. He and Mary Belle Gholson were married March 13, 1955.
Mr. Mackey was a 1945 graduate of Jackson High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946.
He farmed in the Marble Hill, Mo., area, co-owned and operated Mackey Stave and Lumber Co. in Jackson, and worked for Lewis Brothers Bakery in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1988.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathy (Lannis) Phillips of St. Louis; and three grandchildren, Justin Mackey of Chicago, Beth and Allie Phillips of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by a son, James; three brothers, J.D., C.C. and Ervin; six sisters, Hazel, Opal, Rose, Maxine, Pearl and an infant.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from noon to service time Sunday.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Dr. Grant F.C. Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
