Roger L. English, 70, of Gordonville passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to William and Evelyn Holmes English. He and Bonnie Jo Holshouser were married Feb. 7, 1970, at Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death Jan. 22, 2014.
Roger proudly served in the U.S. Army and in the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 63 and Veterans of Foreign War Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Roger was a volunteer fireman for Gordonville and Whitewater, and was a bus driver for Jackson schools.
He is survived by his daughters, Tonya and Amy English of Gordonville; a brother, Bob (Mary) English of Cadiz, Kentucky; and a granddaughter, Brandi Nicole Bell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Graveside service with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Gordonville Fire Department.
