Rodney Dennis Miller, son of the late Robert "Clifford" Miller and Edith Mae Foster Miller, was born March 8, 1951, in Cairo, Illinois, and departed his life Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at his home in Benton, Missouri, at the age of 70.
Miller retired after 35 years from Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau as a supply technician, was a member of Knights of Columbus No. 6420 in Scott City and a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.
On Sept. 2, 1972, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Backfisch. Mrs. Miller survives of the home in Benton.
Besides his wife, other survivors include one son, Joshua Alan Miller of Joplin, Missouri; one daughter, Judy Carol Miller of Columbia, Missouri; three brothers, Carl (Mary) Miller of Wendell, North Carolina, James (Jerri) Miller of Tamms, Illinois, and Sidney (Cora) Miller of Olive Branch, Illinois; one sister, Lea Ann (Jim) Bledsoe of Olive Branch; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. Parish prayer service will be held at 4:15 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, with the Rev. Bala Swami-Govindu officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery.
