Roberta L. Vandeven, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 27, 2011, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Dec. 10, 1926, in Decatur, Ill., to Guy and Helen VanGundy Matthews.
She first married Jack Smith in 1946. They separated in 1948 and he preceded in 1986. She later married Robert Vandeven in 1951. They separated in 1966.
Vandeven was a certified respiratory therapist at Southeast Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Melissa (Bill) Morgan of Jackson; two sons, Richard M. (Phyllis) Vandeven of Sapulpa, Okla., Christopher J. (Elena) Vandeven of Long Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Justin Vandeven of Torrance, Calif., Candice Garcia of Long Beach, Brian Vandeven of O'Fallon, Mo., Michael Walker of Cape Girardeau, Jennifer Morgan, Max Morgan and Billie Jo Morgan, all of Jackson; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kim Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
