ROBERTA BETHEL

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Roberta T. Mohn Bethel, 92, of Paducah, formerly of Cairo, Ill., died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

She was born July 9, 1908, in Forrest City, Ark., to Jonus and Sophia Mohn. She married Leon Bethel on Jan. 29, 1929. He preceded her in death.

She was a former member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Future City, Ill., the Holy City Church of God in Christ of Cairo, and the Trinity Church of Deliverance of Decatur, Ill. She was a member of the Klondike Holy Trinity Church of Cairo.

Survivors include two sons, Hosea and Vernell Bethel of Gary, Ind.; two daughters, Jessie Webster of Cairo and Elatrice Lenox of Decatur; a brother, Joseph Mohn of Chicago; two sisters, Mildred Davis of Gary and Margaret Ferguson of Cairo; 24 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, three sisters and five brothers.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the Algee Memorial Chapel in Cairo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Klondike Holy Trinity Church of Deliverance, with the Revs. James Whitfield and Jesse McNeil officiating. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill.
