Robert Marion Young Sr., 76, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at his home.

He was born Nov. 29, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, to John E. and Ollie Mae Price Young. He and Neoma Ruth Stephens were married in January 1958 in Cape Girardeau. She died Jan. 9, 1997.

Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was injured in combat and received the Purple Heart.

He was a machine operator at Southeast Missouri Stone Quarry. He was a member of Church of God, and was a former Cub Scout leader and Little League baseball coach.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Ann Warner and Cynthia Kay Allen of Jackson; a son, Robert Marion Young Jr. of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Charles Joseph Young of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, and brother.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Troy Truitt officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with full military honors by Missouri Honors Team.
