Robert Emmett Young, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at his home.
He was born June 15, 1948, in St. Catherines, Canada, to Emmett Sylvester and Marion Elizabeth Bishop Young.
He served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
He was a dedicated Eagle Scout as a child. He loved the freedom of being an avid bike rider. If you knew Bob, he was a stranger to no one, striking up conversation with anyone. His life was wrapped around his kids and grandchildren, and he always left us with "God Bless You."
Survivors include his daughter, Chelsea (John) Gilman; sons, Zachary Young and Nicholas Young; brother, Bryan (Rhonda) Young; grandchildren, Jaidyn Young, Gunner Gilman, Levi Gilman, Marley Gilman and Jett Gilman; nephew, Jordan Young; niece, Mollie Young; and former spouse, Bonnie Young, all of Cape Girardeau.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Memorial service, with full military honors, will follow at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Blake Tiemann officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Howard Aslinger Foundation.
